Browser Plugins and Settings⚓︎

We highly advise that regardless of which browser you use, you install a few key plugins/extensions and change some default configurations to better keep your information secure and private.

Browser Settings⚓︎

Set Up HTTPS by Default in Your Browser⚓︎

Using HTTPS, if the site you are visiting supports in, helps protect your data from any man-in-the-middle. The EFF has a great site which guides you as to how to Set Up HTTPS by Default in Your Browser.

Suggested Plugins⚓︎

HTTPS Everywhere⚓︎

I used to recommend installing the HTTPS Everywhere from the EFF, however, starting in January 2023 it will be sunset as this feature is now built in to most modern browsers. HTTPS Is Actually Everywhere, so I now suggest you Set Up HTTPS by Default in Your Browser. If you’ve done this, you can safely uninstall the HTTPS Everywhere plugin.

Privacy Badger⚓︎

www.eff.org/privacybadger is an extension that stops advertisers and other third-party trackers from secretly tracking where you go and what pages you look at on the web.

Bitwarden or LastPass⚓︎

Bitwarden and LastPass are password managers that simplify password management by remembering your passwords, logging into your sites with one click, creating strong passwords for every account, syncing your passwords between devices, and doing this all securely. For more information, see our Password Security page.

Optional Plugins⚓︎

uBlock Origin⚓︎

uBlock Origin is a wide-spectrum blocker which by default blocks ads, trackers, and malware sites but can easily be configured to block even more.

Optionally, you can then add lists from github.com/StevenBlack to your uBlock custom lists for further protection.
